Carbon Accounting Software Interoperability Whitepaper LAUNCH

Today we celebrate the launch of the CAA’s first ever whitepaper, written by Members of our Software Interoperability Working Group.

The Carbon Accounting Software Interoperability Whitepaper presents the results of an industry survey conducted by the Working Group last year, providing findings that demonstrate a clear appetite, and business case, for reducing friction in data sharing between carbon accounting platforms through a common, permissioned, software-agnostic approach.

Analogous in spirit to the “Open Banking Standard”, an “Open Carbon Data Sharing” approach would enable secure, controlled data sharing between platforms, while preserving ownership and respecting commercial sensitivity and regulatory constraints.

The paper sets out key opportunities and barriers, including a prioritised list of four valuable use-cases identified by the CAA community:
